While there doesn't appear to be any evidence of this exact ruling, Texas is definitely has a very weird attitude towards the sex toys.
In 1973, the Texas Legislature passed a law that prohibited the sale or promotion of "Obscene device[s]" mean[ing] a device including a dildo or artificial vagina, designed or marketed as useful primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs."

Bizarrely though, Texans don't even need to do a background check on someone buying a handgun.
In 2016, students at the University of Texas  protested a new state law that made the carrying of concealed handguns legal in college classrooms by openly displaying dildos, an act considered illegal under local indecency laws.
