But while country dwellers are lucky enough to have dozens of pub gardens within a five-mile radius, having a drink in the sun in the city is a lot more difficult.
But summer drinks in the city don't have to mean standing on a busy pavement with a pint in hand anymore.
In the last few years there has been an explosion of rooftop bars with fantastic views.
Often taking their inspiration from Ibiza or English country gardens, the bars allow drinkers to relax away from the busy roads below.
From a quirky Peter Pan-inspired rooftop in east London to a plush terrace boasting panoramic views in Norfolk, they also offer customers the chance to grab a rare glimpse of sunset that is usually hidden behind buildings.
