IF you thought your daily commute was the worst in Britain, now you can prove it... or see who has got it worse off than you.

An investigation into some of the country's most overcrowded trains has revealed the 13 most commonly delayed routes and how likely you are to be held up on them.

The study by Roulette Online shows that seven of the 13 listed routes were either travelling towards or leaving London, while another four of the journeys were linked to Manchester Airport.

The worst of the group was the 07:34 service from Didcot Parkway to London Paddington, which had a 21/22 chance of being delayed, making it a near certainty the train would not leave on time.

Equally as frustrating was the commute for anyone living in Brighton and working in Bedford.

Heading home after work, the 16:26 train journey towards Brighton has a 20/21 chance of being delayed, the second most likely in the country.

And things aren't much better in the morning either, with the reverse 06:57 route back up to Bedford third on the list and first as the train with the nation's highest average delay time of 17 minutes.

The early morning route from Brighton to Bedford was also the most over-packed train in the country, carrying 540 passengers over capacity on average.

Transport to and from Manchester Airport proved particularly problematic, with trips from the airport to Edinburgh at 16:00 and 18:00 ranking fourth and fifth on the list, respectively.

The reverse route at 06:15 also made the group at number 11, while the train travelling from Glasgow to Manchester Airport at 04:22 rounded out the list.

According to findings, which came from a full month of monitoring in January 2017, the network with the highest chances of delays was the First Transpennine Express.

However, a spokesperson for First Transpennine Express has now revealed that they have made a dramatic change in the number of delays on their service since then.

They told Sun Online Travel : Our 0422 Glasgow to Manchester Airport service has run 87 out of 88 times this year. The train has run over 99 per cent of the mileage it has meant to and on average, it arrives at Manchester Airport 27 seconds early.

"This service reaches Wigan at peak time during the morning rush hour and so typically becomes very busy between Wigan and Oxford Road, a distance of 17 miles out of the 241 miles between Glasgow and Manchester Airport.

"It’s also worth noting that we will be delivering an investment of more than £500million in introducing brand new trains on the route between Scotland and Manchester, the first of which will begin operating in 2019."
