Travelodge launches plush new rooms with extra features and free chocolate
The budget chain's new SuperRooms include branded coffee machines, three-jet power showers and a free KitKat
BUDGET hotel chain Travelodge has launched premium economy rooms — with free chocolate.
SuperRooms include branded coffee machines, three-jet power showers, mood lighting and larger desks with swivel chairs.
Guests also get a KitKat if they upgrade, at an extra cost of up to £20 extra per night.
Travelodge expects to invest around £5million in the initial launch of 1,000 SuperRooms this year.
The first rooms are expected to be at hotels in central London, Heathrow and Gatwick airports and Bath.
Business customers account for more than half of all Travelodge sales and contributed to a healthy rise in profits last year.
Revenues rose 6.8 per cent to £597.8million in 2016, with operating profit hitting £110.1million, up £5million on the year before.
Travelodge boss Peter Gowers said the rooms offer a “little bit more comfort”.
He said: “We are used to airlines offering a premium economy cabin that bridges the gap between traditional economy class and an expensive business-class offer.
“We wanted to bring that same choice to budget hotel guests.”
