Art dealer leaves painting worth £1.27 million in the back of a Paris cab
The artwork by Lucio Fontana called "Concetto spaziale" was forgotten in the boot of the car
An unlucky man has suffered what must be one of the most expensive cab journeys of all time, after he left an expensive painting in the boot.
The art dealer forgot a piece of art worth £1.27 million after he was dropped off by the taxi driver in Paris.
The artwork, by the Argentina-born Italian sculptor and painter Lucio Fontana, is called "Concetto spaziale" which translates as Spatial concept.
After hailing a cab in the French capital, the man put it for safe keeping in the boot, but forgot about it when he arrived at his destination in the 11th arondissement, where he was meeting an art dealer.
He has since tried to get hold of the taxi in order to reclaim the art, but when that proved unsuccessful, he reported it as a theft instead.
A statement has since been filed with the city police.
Lucio Fontana was most famous for being the founder of Spatialism in Milan in 1947, which aimed to “synthesise colour, sound, space, movement, and time.”
His paintings have sold for as much as £22,611,223.
