While we wouldn't put anyone off booking a holiday just for the wine, Portugal does have lots more to offer too.

For one, Portugal is home to some of the most incredible coastlines.

On TripAdvisor Traveller's Choice Awards, Praia da Falésia ranks in number five of the world's best beaches - and number two in Europe.

You'll find Praia da Falésia in the south Algarve region of Portugal and what makes it so beautiful is the dramatic red cliffs.

The Algarve is also one of the most affordable spots for Brits. We found that in the city of Silves, the average price of a hotel was around £73, while a beer costs as little as £2.50.

And flights from the UK were under £50, on average.

We recently spoke to some experts about the Algarve who gave their own recommendations.

Inês Tito, a Portugal and Algarve trip planner, said: "Portimão, near the Praia De Rocha, is the perfect place for beach holidays. There are plenty of accommodation options, some only a few steps from the beach, so you won’t have any issue in finding a place to stay.

"Praia da Rocha is the most famous beach in Portimão, but these others nearby are also fantasic - Três Castelos, Careanos, Vau, Alemão, João D’Arens, Submarino, Prainha, Três Irmãos and Torralta.'"

The experts also revealed the location of a winery and micro-brewery in Lagos that only locals know about.

They said: " is a nice micro-brewery and winery in Lagos, with views of the vineyards, and 200-year-old, family-owned estate  does family-style lunches in a vineyard setting."

Here's Everything You Need To Know About The Wine 'Theme Park'

The World of Wine is the perfect place for anyone who fancies a tipple...

One city in Portugal that is keen to celebrate its wine heritage is Porto, where a wine "theme park" offers visitors the chance to learn all about the drink, while also sampling it too.

The World of Wine is a complex in the city's affectionately named wine quarter, home to seven museums, numerous restaurants, bars and cafes, a wine school, several shops, an exhibition hall and event space.

It is housed in old port wine cellars and is said to "convey the history and feeling associated with winemaking in its many forms" according to .

Among the seven themed museums are the Wine Experience, which promises to take guests on an "extraordinary journey from grape to bottle" but "in an interactive way".

There's also the Pink Palace, which is the most recent addition and immerses visitors in the concept of rosé wine.

It boasts an "extravagant and eccentric" experience, with a bright pink ball pit and inflatable flamingos.

It offers five different types of rosé for people to try, included in the €25 (£21) ticket price.
