The sleeper train is a great option for anyone travelling long distances without wanting to do the drive and instead see the fantastic scenery from the comfort of a train.

For anyone stepping aboard, there are three different seating and sleeping options onboard that also vary in price.

The most affordable is the seat option which has six seats in one compartment - pretty much like a regular train and is the cheapest option at £99.

The couchette compartment means you can have a comfortable lie down.

They have seats during the day that can be turned into beds for the overnight journey, with prices for the couchettes start at €199 (£165).

The sleeper compartments are the most comfortable option, but also the most expensive.

There are three beds in each cabin which all have a mattress, duvet, pillow and sheet.

They also include breakfast and a welcome drink, and start from €339 (£406).

For the seasonal train, there's also a dining car where you can enjoy dinner, the bar and breakfast onboard.

A two course meal costs €29 (£24) and a three course is €35 (£29).

They offer soups for starters, main courses such as curry and pasta, and chocolate desserts.

For the return journey, departures from Venice are scheduled for 4pm, reaching Brussels around midday the following day.

The new route operates weekly until the end of March.

The bargain while good news for travellers, hasn't gone down too well with some - especially when it comes to the price of some UK train routes.

Liz Leigh said it is "such a pity such good prices etc are not available in the UK".

Another commended: "That’s cheaper than a train ticket from Manchester to London!!!"

Through European Sleeper, you can even get monthly passes that are a fraction of the price of some UK journeys.

A one-month pass with unlimited access to all European Sleeper trains will only cost €149 (£124).

There's also an option for a three-month travel pass for €299 (£249) or a twelve-month pass for €799 (£666) - all which are unlimited and just need a reservation.

This is one of the most scenic routes in Europe

This is one of the most beautiful train journeys in Europe...

One trip that rail experts and enthusiasts seem to love is along a stretch of the Italian coast, and it takes just 25 minutes to complete. The Italian Riviera is home to colourful buildings, stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and one of Europe's most scenic trains.

Located along the Italian coastline in northern Italy, the Cinque Terre is a string of five villages, including Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore.

The route can start in either direction, but most holidaymakers begin their journey in Riomaggiore, with the Italian train stopping at each of the stations, before arriving in Monterosso. Holidaymakers who've managed to nab a window seat can expect seaside views overlooking crystal-clear waters and ragged cliffs.
