PART of south-east London will be transformed in the next few years thanks to a huge new development taking place in London.

A new multi-use space called Corner Corner is set to open at Surrey Quays Shopping Centre.

Located in Canada Water, Corner Corner will house a new music venue, a food hall and an indoor farm, in a disused branch of The Range.

While the 1980s shopping centre is due to be demolished in the next few years, Corner Corner has been allowed to open with plans approved by Southwark Council Planning Committee last week.

The site is being developed by British Land.

It will be open for five years and be home to interactive attractions like a new Minecraft Experience.

Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue is slated to open in Corner Corner in early April and will feature seven rooms based on the best-selling video game.

Following the closure of the nearby nightclub Printworks, Corner Corner will have its own music venue where jazz and other 'low-key' music events will be held.

On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, Corner Corner hopes to be allowed to stay open until 3am, with DJs slated to perform on Thursday evenings, and ticketed shows taking place on Friday and Saturday nights.

Meanwhile, the indoor vertical farm has already been dubbed London's largest commercial farm.

It will supply fresh groceries to the on-site food hall and restaurants in the local area.

Cooking activities will also take place under the plans.

Roger Madelin, Head of Canada Water at British Land, said: "This new cultural venue is a totally fresh concept, and securing consent to deliver our proposed vision is fantastic recognition of the critical role Canada Water has within London’s cultural offering."

Corner Corner is part of a wider £4billion renovation taking place in Canada Water.

Known as the Canada Water masterplan, the huge new project will create London's first new town centre for 50 years, with new shops, homes and offices being built under the scheme.

A new tower block will have 384 new homes, nearly half of which promise to be affordable.

The roof will be home to a communal garden for residents, with play spaces, meeting places and allotments also slated to feature on the site.

A Tesco Extra superstore will be located on the ground floor, making shopping convenient.

Several other huge developments are also taking place across the English capital, including a huge £125million redevelopment taking place in Ealing.

The Ealing development will include a leisure centre with a 50 metre Olympic swimming pool.

Slated to open in 2027, the new London attraction will include a waterpark with slides and a lazy river.

And ITV's former headquarters on London's South Bank are set to be transformed over the next four years.

Developers Mitsubishi Estate plan to transform the site into a mixed-use space featuring riverside restaurants and bars overlooking the Thames.

When the 2.5 acre site opens in 2029, it will be home to cafes, cultural venues and green spaces.

London's best pubs

THE Sun's Head of Travel (Digital) Caroline McGuire has named some of her favourites and why.

LONDON is chock full of fantastic pubs.

Whether you're looking for an old man's boozer, a gastro pub or a cosy pitstop with a roaring fire, there is the perfect pub for everyone in the capital.

My top tip? Try to avoid the ones in the tourist spots of Covent Garden, Leicester Square, and so on, unless you've got a recommendation. No self-respecting Londoner would be seen dead in them.

Here is a selection of our favourite London pubs, from some of the heaviest drinkers we know...
