BOTH Larnaca and Paphos airports in Cyprus are about to undergo a multi-million renovation - which will lead to space for more flights.
At the beginning of the year, Hermes Airports, who operate both the Cyprus travel hubs, announced the ambitious expansion plans.
Located in eastern Cyprus, Larnaca International Airport will benefit from an €95million (£79million) revamp, which will see its terminal extended.
New departure gates will be introduced on the west side of its terminal, with baggage handling facilities also set to be enhanced.
Advanced passport control facilities, heightened security operations and additional commercial spaces will also be added as part of the renovation.
Once the renovation takes place, Larnaca International Airport will be able to handle up to 12million passengers each year, after welcoming a record 8.6million in 2024.

Meanwhile, Paphos International Airport will also undergo a huge renovation to the tune of €75million (£62million).
Paphos International Airport will see its existing terminal expanded and a new supplementary runway built as part of the renovation.
Its security and immigration areas will also be improved as will its baggage claims area.
Once the renovation works have been completed, Paphos International Airport will be able to handle five million passengers each year (after a record 3.6million last year).

While no new routes have been announced, the uptick in passenger numbers indicates the potential for more flights.
The airports reportedly handled 11.6million passengers in 2023, which means the newly-announced renovation plans will see capacity rise by millions.
The renovation plans were approved by the environment department earlier this week.
When the plans were first announced last year, Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades, said: "The sharp increase in passenger traffic achieved through our joint efforts with Hermes Airports, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, and our tourism sector partners has made the expansion of the two airports essential."
Christophe Petit, who is the Chair of the board at Hermes Airports, added, "With the agreed projects, the airports will be even better equipped to meet the demands of the new era, extending well beyond the current concession agreement".
Low-cost carrier easyJet operates direct UK flights to Larnaca International Airport from London Gatwick.
British Airways also operates a direct service from London Heathrow, with Wizz Air also flying a route from London Luton.
Meanwhile, UK cities like London, Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle and Nottingham all have direct flights to Paphos International Airport.
Ryanair operates a direct route from Birmingham International Airport to Paphos, while both Jet2 and TUI run flights between Nottingham and Paphos.
