English lido with three heated swimming pools to close next month for big makeover
A LIDO in the UK has confirmed they will be closing by the end of next month - and reopening in time for the summer holidays.
Beccles Lido, which first opened in 1959, had a £130k renovation last year.
And the pools will again shut at the end of March while it goes under renovation and maintenance with the plan to reopen for the summer season.
There are three pools in Beccles lido - a main pool with a springboard and a slide, a splash pool and a toddler pool.
In the summer, the pool is heated to 28C, and in winter, the pool is heated to 15C.
For regulars at the lido, there could be a big change coming as they are seeking to add a pergola.

It won't be the first time there has been a shelter over the patio, although the previous one fell in into disrepair and was removed.
Now, the hope is to have another built over the current sunbeds.
The general manger of the lido Matt Day said: "If approved, we will be building the pergola in almost the same spot as the historic shelter, albeit with a slightly more modern look and feel."
Matt also said that landscaping work happening in the same period is set to improve drainage and replace the damaged grass areas.
They have a problem with the grassy areas turning muddy when the lido gets popular in the summer.
Once the restoration and building works are complete, the lido will reopen with a 24-hour swim on the weekend of April 26 and 27.
For the rest of the public, the lido will open on Saturday, May 3.
Last year's £130k renovation included an all-weather canopy which replaced the retractable awning over the patio and upgraded shower facilities.
It is now a solid structure complete with lighting, solar panels and infrared heaters for the winter months.
At the time, Matt said the old awning was "temperamental" and "couldn't be relied on to offer shade or shelter."
The canopy has since provided more lighting and heaters which benefit anyone having a winter swim.
In December 2024, the pool also announced a £400,000 project to replace the 50-year-old filtration system.
They declared it to be one of their "biggest projects" yet.

Here's a little-known lido in London
This lido is London's best kept secret...
Tucked away in the heart of central London, the Oasis Sports Centre on Endell Street is a hidden gem often overlooked by tourists.
Just a five-minute walk from Covent Garden Tube Station, this heated outdoor pool stretches 27.5 metres and is open year-round, making it a favourite among locals and lido enthusiasts.
Unlike more famous London lidos such as Tooting Bec or Brockwell, the Oasis offers a quieter, more intimate setting. Beyond the pool, the centre boasts an indoor swimming pool, gym with various classes, squash courts, a sauna, and a spacious rooftop terrace.
Recent visitors have praised the lido for its balmy water and rare deep end, with many calling it a "top-notch" and "random" find in such a bustling location. Entry costs £7.20, with advance booking recommended due to its popularity.
