Huge £10billion neighbourhood revamp to make it a tourist hotspot with huge park and ‘flower amphitheatre’

ONE of London's major neighbourhoods is set to undergo a multi-billion renovation to turn it into a 'cultural destination'.
The Earls Court site was once home to a major exhibition centre that had big performers including David Bowie, who had his first performance there.

However, it was demolished in 2015, and has since been bought by Earls Court Development Company (ECDC) who hope to develop it into a major city attraction.
The 44-acre site will have include "three cultural venues" as well as a huge park and gardens.
The park will have a climbing structure, according to images, with slides and seating areas.
A "flower ampitheater' is also part of the designs along with new restaurants and shops.

Along with the tourist attractions, there would also be 4,000 new homes as well as office spaces.
It will be easy to get to as well with three train stations around it - West Kensington, Earl's Court and West Brompton.
If allowed to go forward, work could start as soon as next year and would be finished in the 2040s.
It is predicted to cost £10billion when complete.

Rebekah Paczek, ECDC's director of public affairs:, said "We want to restart Earls Court as a cultural destination and give people a reason to come here."
She added she wants to "bring back the wonder" it once had as a major event space.

The first phase will be the commercial spaces and 1,500 new homes as well as a 42-storey skyscraper.
ECDC chief executive Rob Heasman added: ‘We’ve listened to the wealth of stories and taken huge inspiration from Earls Court’s heritage as a place that dared – to showcase, to entertain and celebrate the spectacular.
"A place that was so clearly cherished for being bold and brave, welcoming people from across the globe.";
It hopes to become be a "proud contribution to the London skyline".
