HOLIDAYMAKERS in the UK can experience a stay in a converted submarine with a very unusual shower and triangle-shaped bed.

Tucked away in the Welsh countryside is an ex-British naval sonar hull, originally crafted as part of an HMS Destroyer.

Now, it serves as both an exciting holiday stay and a way to explore maritime history.

The humble conversion sits just below ground level so guests must descend down a spiral staircase to reach it.

Inside the authentic sonar hull, they can find a spacious living area, kitchen, bathroom and a triangular bed.

As many as four guests can stay in this tiny let, two of which on the triangular bed, while the other two have a sofa each.

The triangular bed even converts into a dining table, with a tiny kitchen just next to it - equipped with a toaster, fridge, kettle, and induction hobs.

The U-96 Sonar also boasts an en-suite, finished with a "highly original shower" that adds to the "nautical charm" of the space.

This shower can be accessed from the outdoors and features a ladder on the inside.

Outside the tiny home are themes of its naval past, as “U-96 SONAR” is marked on the sonar hull.

The converted submarine is surrounded by other quirky lets including: "The UFO Experience", The Jet-Star, the Apple Air (Airbus), and The Igloo".

Apple Camping, the company which manages the units, says it offers "a unique glamping paradise".

It describes Sonar the Submarine as "meticulously designed to retain its historical essence while providing all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay".

Such as Tenby Castle, Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo, and an array of beautiful beaches.

For Harry Potter fans, Dobby's grave lies just a 25-minute drive away, at Freshwater West beach.

"What a unique experience it was for us. Jake is so accommodating and made the stay better for the kids, taking them on a tour of some of the unoccupied places such as the UFO and Plane."

"We stayed in the Submarine. Love how it is decorated and all set out. It is very basic but an absolute gem of a holiday.

"Really quiet and peaceful stay too. Kids can't wait to go back to school to show everyone the pictures of their amazing trip.

"We will definitely be booking to stay again.

While a second person said: "Wow! We had the best time in the quirky little submarine.

"We were expecting it to be much smaller than it was from the pictures. It was snug but such a lovely cosy environment."

They added: "The sound effects in different areas of the sub really made us laugh and gave it such a charm and character along with all the different lighting options including the helmet light.

"In addition the bubbly changing colour lights were really cool which we used at the same time as our colourful star project inside which gave the impression of being underwater with the blue nebulas.

"Overall we simply couldn't recommend it enough and were really sad to leave.

"The sub is homely and our favourite of all the quirky accommodations at Apple camping as we were lucky to get to look round a few as they weren't occupied.

"Perfect for a couples get away and only a 10-15min drive to Tenby!"
