EasyJet reveals plans for new flights from regional UK airport next summer

The regional airport recently revealed a £300m renovation plan with new long-haul routes slated to launch

EASYJET will launch two new routes to Brit-favourite destinations from Birmingham International Airport next summer.

The low-cost airline opened its ninth UK base at Birmingham International Airport earlier this year.

It now operates 33 routes from the West Midlands-based airport, with two more being added to its roster for next summer.

From next summer, holidaymakers in the West Midlands will be able to fly directly from Birmingham International Airport to Gran Canaria and Malta with easyJet.

Flights to Gran Canaria will take to the skies on May 2, 2025, running every Friday.

Direct flights to Malta will begin operating from June 3, 2025, with services departing Birmingham International Airport every Tuesday.

EasyJet currently operates stopping services to both destinations from Birmingham International Airport.

Tickets for both new routes are already on sale on the easyJet website.

The news comes after easyJet announced it would be adding two additional aircraft at its Birmingham base, with the new Airbus A320 aircraft enabling the airline to run more flights from Birmingham Airport.

Tom Screen, Aviation Director of Birmingham Airport said: "The announcement of these two additional aircraft from Summer 2025 ensures that even more routes and frequencies will be added direct from Birmingham Airport offering customers convenient and competitive flights and holidays."

And more easyJet routes could be on the cards for Birmingham International Airport.

Earlier today (Tuesday, December 3), : "It's really interesting to understand what people of the West Midlands want us to fly to because that helps us to evaluate our opportunities, so it's great that we can announce another two routes but we're continuing to look at new opportunities as they become available and as we continue to grow.

"We're starting to think about what new routes we can add for the extra two aircraft we're going to add [to Birmingham] next summer, so there might be some additional capacity on the routes we're already operating this winter but also we'd want to add some new routes so we've got the pins and the map out at the moment to see what those opportunities might be."

The news comes after easyJet launched five new routes to sunny winter destinations from Birmingham Airport last month.

Holidaymakers in the West Midlands can now fly to Hurghada, Marrakesh, Reykjavik, Prague and Krakow directly with easyJet.

The new routes are all part of easyJet's huge expansion at Birmingham International Airport.

Meanwhile, Birmingham International Airport recently revealed its multi-million-pound renovation project, which will see more long-haul routes introduced.

The regional airport will make huge changes over the next nine years in a bid to serve more than 18 million passengers by 2033.
