Having opened back in 1864 it celebrated its 160th anniversary this year.

And it is currently undergoing a huge £16million revamp, which started in January 2024 and is set to be finished by next year.

Called a "ripping-it-back-to-carcass renovation" all 205 rooms are being overhauled.

The rooms will have luxury marble bathrooms and blue-hued bedrooms set to "represent the sea and sky".

Around 50 of the rooms have balconies, many with sea views.

These are set to be fully open by March 2025.

And a new spa and gym will open by Easter with the main lobby area also being given a facelift.
