Regional UK airport gets five new easyJet routes – including very affordable winter sun spots

EASYJET has launched five new routes to sunny winter destinations from Birmingham Airport, with flights already in operation.

The budget airline opened its ninth base at Birmingham International Airport earlier this year, adding 10 new routes to its schedule.

Holidaymakers in the West Midlands can now fly to Hurghada, Marrakesh, Reykjavik, Prague and Krakow directly with easyJet.

Weekly flights to Hurghada in Egypt launched on November 13, with Sun Online Travel finding one-way fares from £119 in the winter.

Sun-drenched Hurghada reaches highs of around 24C in December, making it an ideal winter sunshine destination for lots of Brits.

There's plenty to do at the seaside resort too, including snorkelling and scuba diving.

Holidaymakers can also book a private tour of Hurghada featuring the Big Mosque, St Mary's Church, and the bazaars.

Twice-weekly flights to Marrakesh are also in operation with fares starting from as little as £20 in December.

Holidaymakers who want to fly to a European city for a break are also in luck, with easyJet also launching new routes to Krakow, Reykjavik and Prague.

Twice-weekly flights from Birmingham International Airport to Prague are already in operation, with one-way fares from £16.

Flights to Krakow also operate twice a week, with fares from £20 in November.

Reykjavik also has twice-weekly services, with one-way fares from £26 in November.

The new routes are all part of easyJet's huge expansion at Birmingham International Airport.

UK country manager Ali Gayward said: "It’s fantastic to launch another five new services from Birmingham airport, providing our customers across the Midlands with even more choice for a winter sun holiday or city break.

"Now they can choose from flights to Marrakech, Reykjavik, Hurghada, Prague and Krakow, as well as a wide range of easyJet holidays’ resorts."

Tom Screen, aviation director at Birmingham Airport, previously said: "easyJet and easyJet holidays have had an incredible start since launching the airline’s new base from Birmingham Airport only this March.

"This new route to Hurghada takes the choice of destinations up to 33 for customers from their local airport, with a choice of flight only, or full package holidays, there is something for everyone."

Meanwhile, Birmingham International Airport recently revealed its multi-million-pound renovation project, which will see more long-haul routes introduced.

The regional airport will make huge changes over the next nine years in a bid to serve more than 18 million passengers by 2033.

Birmingham Airport bosses plan to reach its new passenger target by launching flights to a host of new destinations.

New flights will reportedly serve long-haul destinations like New York, Toronto, Mumbai and Hong Kong.
