Introducing the French Riviera
Head to the French Riviera for some glamourous fun in the sun. Explore Nice, St. Tropez and Cannes, bordered by the glistening Mediterranean Sea with hot sunshine beating down. You’ll find endless golden beaches, delicious local food and fine wines at half the price, all just a car or train ride away from the UK. Enjoy a slice of cosmopolitan glitz and class as you join the jet-setters and explore diverse scenery, sun-drenched beaches, trendy bars and marinas full of priceless yachts. Visitors can also enjoy a range of water sports along the French Riviera coastline, in addition to some of the best alfresco eateries in the south of France. There are also shops and museums to suit all kinds of travellers, so reserve your spot today!
Getting Around
The towns of the French Riviera were made for leisurely strolls, with picturesque streets and wide, beachfront promenades. If you’re tired of walking or you’ve had one too many glasses of vin, you can get a taxi from one of the town’s taxi ranks, marked by a blue panel.
If you want to explore the region a bit more then you’ve got a few travel options. Car hire is popular, and there are some stunning coastal roads to enjoy. Traffic can be an issue in peak seasons, and parking may be tricky in towns – but no more so than in the UK! There are a few toll roads where you either need to pay up or find an alternative, slower route.
The French Riviera has a great bus network, operating both within towns and to connect between towns. Buses are comfortable and regular, and serve the main coastal tourist destinations especially well. And (you might want to to sit down for this) prices are just €1.50 wherever you travel to, making exploring by bus an incredibly affordable option. Tickets can be bought on board, and most drivers will give change if you have small notes, but change is preferred. There are also trains running in the French Riviera, but these are more expensive than the buses. They do offer a good choice if you’re in a hurry though.
