WHILE Wetherspoons is best known for its cheap food and booze, the famous pub brand also has a string of hotels.
There are over 55 Wetherspoons hotels dotted across the country, with a brand-new hotel in Southport set to join the pub giant's growing ranks.
Located in Southport, the Sir Henry Segrave pub is a Wetherspoons boozer that's routinely described as "beautiful" by punters on TripAdvisor.
The pub will soon be transformed into a new hotel with 30 rooms spread across the first, second and third floors, with a tower suite and "plant room" also included in the plans.
Meanwhile, the ground floor will be turned into a hotel reception with a dedicated entrance and a bar.
Upgrades will also be made to the kitchen under the new plans.

A statement on the application reads: "By taking into account history and heritage, they are able to meaningfully revive and restore existing structures to become spaces that are open and inviting to the public."
According to JH.A architects, who submitted the plans on behalf of JD Wetherspoon, the building’s external details "will be retained".
The inside will be designed as "a traditional pub aesthetic" with "historical plaques" celebrating the site’s heritage featured.
The historic building dates back to 1880, although the pub opened in 1995.

Despite the approval, the transformation project hasn't been given the official go-ahead, so an opening date is yet to be confirmed.
With more than 55 hotels dotted across the country, there are already plenty of Wetherspoons hotels for enthusiasts to try.
From Birmingham and Wigan to Edinburgh, Dublin and Wembley, Wetherspoons hotels are slowly making their mark across the UK.
In a similar fashion to Wetherspoons pubs, known for breathing fresh new life into old buildings, several hotels in the pub giant's portfolio have done exactly that.
Queen's Head Hotel, Tavistock
One of those places is the Queen's Head Hotel in Tavistock.
Located in the historic market town of Tavistock, the Queen's Head Hotel is a former 17th century coaching inn.
Each room is equipped with a desk, a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom.
The Spoons hotel has been praised by visitors on TripAdvisor too, with one person describing it as the "cleanest" hotel and another calling it "brilliant".
Cabot Court Hotel, Weston-super-Mare
Set inside a Grade II Listed building, the Cabot Court Hotel is home to 21 rooms, many of which have beach views.
All of the rooms have an en suite, Freeview television, tea- and coffee-making facilities, a hairdryer, a telephone and unlimited free Wi-Fi throughout.
Described as "great-value" by visitors in the reviews, the seaside hotel is close to plenty of local attractions like Weston Bay.
The Last Post, Southend-on-Sea
Despite just having 14 rooms, the Last Post in Southend-on-Sea has made a bit of a name for itself since it first opened.
Unlike the other hotels we've featured, the Last Post has its very own beer garden, perfect for making the most of the hot weather.
It's also just a two-minute walk from Southend beach.
Other attractions like Adventure Island, Sea Life Adventure and the pier are all within walking distance too.
The Angel Hotel, Whitby
Recently named as the best seaside town to visit in the winter, even Whitby has a Wetherspoons Hotel.
The Angel Hotel backs right onto the River Esk, making it perfect for holidaymakers looking to explore the seaside town.
Rooms start from £65 per night, with some having views overlooking the harbour.
