Introducing Alcudia
On the north east coast of Majorca, the easily accessible Alcudia is a popular resort with Brits all summer long. There are five miles of golden sands, a bustling port and a variety of bars and restaurants offering everything from Mediterranean dishes to roast beef, Yorkshire pudding and a pint of bitter to wash it all down.
The loveable partnership of the charming old town and coastal marina mean that Alcudia holiday deals have something for everyone, whether you’re looking for nightlife, fantastic food, stunning sights, high energy attractions or somewhere to simply relax and unwind.
Getting Around
Alcudia is a lovely place to walk around, with wide, flat streets that are great for prams and anybody with mobility issues. The town is quite large though, so it isn’t always possible to walk everywhere. For example, the old town lies two miles inland of the main beachfront hotel area.
Alcudia has a public bus system, run by the ‘Consorci de Transports de Mallorca’ that covers most of the town, although buses can be busy and a bit irregular. At least you’ll be waiting in the sunshine though!
Taxis that have their green lights on can be flagged down, or there are plenty of taxi ranks spread around town. Taxis can be booked in advance, but you will pay extra for the privilege. Charges will also increase if you have a lot of bags or are getting a taxi between 9pm and 6am, or on a Sunday, or a fiesta day. You get the picture. Fares are calculated by a meter, but you could expect to pay around €6 to get from the port to the old town.
Hiring a car in Alcudia can be a fantastic way to explore the island, with loads of beautiful beaches and traditional towns to discover nearby.
