Introducing Rhodes

Holidays to Rhodes are holidays to another era. The island is a gateway to the past, with many towns and cities playing host to a huge variety of remains from fascinating ancient Greece. Where else can you let yourself be swept away into a long-lost world? On the flip side, the island’s buzzing resort of Faliraki, on the north eastern coast, offers the chance to dive straight into a modern, Ibiza-style mix of clubs, restaurants and DJs. This region is renowned for its beaches, parties and just for being an all-round haven for holidaymakers. Rhodes offers plenty of incredible beaches, sparkling waters and sunshine.

Getting Around

You’ll probably need to rely on the various transportation methods available to you in order to make the most of your trip to Rhodes Island. Many of the best attractions are located quite some distance apart from one another, but there are many buses, shared taxis, rental cars and bus tours to choose from. However, if you only wish to explore Rhodes City, travelling by foot is fine. There isn’t much traffic within the city walls at all, which makes walking around the city very safe.

Public buses connect a range of the island’s key attractions. Head to the tourist office if you do require in-depth information about public transport and routes once you’re in Rhodes. There are six different bus tours to choose from and a number of reputable companies offering bicycle, moped and motorbike hire services. You will need a licence to drive anything with a motor. There are many taxi operators to choose from, but make sure the price is agreed before you get in the car. Booking a shared taxi can help you save money if you don’t mind travelling with strangers. It’s also fun exploring the island by excursion boat. No matter which part of Rhodes’ history you’re interested in, you should find a service to suit.
