I tried the new double-track rollercoaster at Legoland – I enjoyed it as much as my kids
ARE you ready to double down on your fun? Legoland Windsor may already be crowned the UK’s favourite kids theme park, but it’s about to get twice as nice.
Today (Saturday April 6) sees the grand opening of the resort’s brand-new double-track coaster ride Minifigure Speedway.
The amazing attraction cost a cool £10million to build and features two unique duelling coasters, so you can battle it out with family and friends.
Reaching speeds of almost 35 miles per hour, the one-of-a-kind design was inspired by the world’s great Speedway circuits.
Riders are divided into Team Legends and Team Allstars and each team’s cars race on two separate but intertwined tracks.
What’s more, the coasters zoom both forwards and in-reverse for the ultimate high-octane thrill.

As the world’s first duelling Lego coaster, demand to ride is sky high, but as my kids prepared to board, I was the one bricking it.
However, their eyes were fixed on Roxie – the world’s tallest minifigure who weighs in at six tonnes and towers a staggering 30ft above the new attraction.
Roxie’s installation has caused a worldwide frenzy with Lego fans, and riders on the Minifigure Speedway are treated to an astonishing birds-eye view of her as they swoop past.
But Roxie isn’t the only treat for Lego lovers on the ride.
The coaster’s ride trains are designed to look just like Lego racing cars, complete with rubber ‘wheels’ and Lego-branded spoilers, plus the ride is packed with iconic Minifigure characters including Corn Cob Guy, Hot Dog Man and Bumblebee Girl.
However, don’t let the cute and colourful appearance deceive you! As the fastest coaster in the whole of the Legoland resort, this is way more than child’s play.
Riding the attraction is exhilarating, breath-taking and manic fun for the whole family.
It’s also addictive as each ride sees one team declared the winners – and you’ll want to go straight back on and battle it out again.
The opening of the Minifigure Speedway follows the 2023 launch of the Lego Ferrari Build and Race, an interactive attraction that sees guests create their own Ferrari race car – and the new world-first Lego-themed indoor golf experience.
Entry to the new ride is included in the theme park ticket, which also gives you access to more than 50 interactive attractions, live shows and building experiences set in 150 acres of beautiful parkland.
So buckle up and enjoy the ride – as everything is awesome on this astonishing new attraction!
Meanwhile, a new Peppa Pig attraction set to open at the world’s oldest Legoland park.
Legoland Billund first opened in 1968, making it the oldest Legoland park in the world.
