The National Exhibition Centre in Marston Green has received planning permission to open a brand-new glamping site on its campus in Solihull.

Located just outside of Birmingham city centre, the site is set to have 59 pods, which will be able to accommodate 236 guests.

According to the glamping site's website, 13 of the pods will be overwater and they'll have their own balconies too.

The glamping site will be erected near Pendigo Lake, with plans set to include an over-water communal area.

Other facilities are set to include a tailormade app, featuring a keyless entry system, a serene woodland as well as complimentary golf buggy transport across the resort.

The site will be constructed on a previously unused space, which is just a stone's throw away from places like the National Exhibition Centre and Resorts World Arena.

Other details, such as a launch date and the price of an overnight stay, have yet to be revealed.

There are plenty of activities to keep families entertained inside the Resorts World Arena, including Escape Hunt.

Escape Hunt is home to several escape rooms as well as other virtual reality adventures.

Other activities include Hollywood Bowl and Vortex - a gaming arcade with video games and virtual reality spheres.

There are plenty of family-favourite dining options too, including Nando's, Miller and Carter, Pizza Express, and Five Guys and Las Iguanas.

The National Exhibition Centre runs a wide range of exhibitions and events throughout the year, including THING and THING.

Andy Cole, Director of Property, Partnerships and Media at the NEC, said: "We’re always trying to push the boundaries in diversifying the use of the NEC Campus to support our core exhibition and arenas business.

"Our latest addition, in partnership with AvantGlamp, perfectly complements our ambitions to create a competitive 24/7 destination to work, rest, live and play, and adds to the existing destination offer."

Calum MacLeod, Director at AvantGlamp, said: "We are so proud to be launching our latest venture in the glamping industry with our stunning new site at NEC Birmingham

"Having a presence in the Midlands makes perfect sense for us and this really is the perfect destination. Being in the heart of the country, as well as having a plethora of leisure and entertainment options on your doorstep, it’s an ideal place to stay."

There are plenty of other exciting new attractions launching across the West Midlands too, including a brand-new ride at Cadbury World.

Cadbury World

Cadbury World in Birmingham is set to launch a new ride as part of an £8million investment project.

Cadbury Chocolate Quest will take over from Cadabra - the attraction's current ride, which is set to close after 27 years.

The Have a Go Zone, where customers have previously been able to put their chocolate piping skills to the test, will also be enhanced.

Meanwhile, The Bournville Experience, which focuses on the Quaker ethics of the Cadbury family, will also be completely revamped, and Advertising Avenue will also be upgraded.

The revamped attractions are slated to open in March 2024.

Warwick Castle

Warwick Castle in Warwickshire promises an "unforgettable experience" as history is brought to life when its 60-bedroom hotel opens later this year.

The hotel's medieval-themed rooms aim to transport guests back to simpler times, but with plenty of modern touches.

The hotel's exterior is set to resemble a medieval long hall with timber cladding and shingle roof tiles.

Meanwhile, each room has been inspired by the Wars of the Roses, with rose motifs, chambers draped in rich colours and wooden beams and shields.
