A VETERAN flyer has revealed their top tips for surviving long flights.
The most common problems for passengers on long-haul flights can vary from jet lag to sleep deprivation.
But if you follow this expert advice your next long flight could be smoother than ever.
DRESS FOR SLEEP SUCCESS
Travellers should always think of the climate of the plane and the destination when deciding what to wear for a long flight, according to the experienced flyer.
I’m always cold on a flight, so I like to wear layers topped with a light down vest that I can crush into nothing if I’m traveling to a warm climate.

Instead of bringing a travel pillow, the expert says to use a rolled-up vest as you won't have to carry an extra item.
However, she suggests "If you must have a pillow but feel the same way, look into one of the many inflatable travel pillows now on the market".

Passengers should wear slip-on shows which are good for security and easier to slip off on the plane in favour of slippers or grippy socks.
BRING SNACKS
When crossing time zones, flight attendants usually sync the meals with your destination, according to the expert.
This means passengers could get meals when they're not hungry or they could be starving and still have hours before the next meal arrives.
I usually bring a little something on a flight, like almonds or granola bars, in case the latter happens.

Passengers on long-haul flights might want to avoid eating salty snacks such as the pretzels usually seen on flights, to avoid dehydration and swelling, according to the expert.

EXERCISE
Sitting for long periods can cause health complications such as blood clots.
Dehydration, preexisting health conditions, cramped seating and other circumstances can raise the likelihood of forming deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
This clot typically forms in the leg vein and can be extremely painful and even fatal.
To navigate this, the expert recommends wearing medical-grade compression stockings on flights.
These are available on for around £15.
Passengers on long-haul flights should walk up and down the cabin to prevent getting these clots.
The expert suggests developing a little circuit of exercises or stretches to do on the plane.
