WHAT'S THE DEAL

‘It’s a box of sludge’ cry passengers after traveler slams plane meal served during flight

Frequent Qantas customers agreed that the flight wasn't worth the money they paid

AN ANGRY Qantas Airlines customer slammed their plane's harrowing conditions and "inedible" food options.

The customer explained that although they were normally not picky when it came to food, what they were served really took the cake.

The anonymous Redditor shared their subpar flight experience in a forum.

"All I can say with my recent experience is EW," they wrote.

The passenger shared photos of one of their breakfasts while on a flight from Brisbane to Adelaide last week.

Marinating in a paper box was a messy combination of scrambled eggs, a hash brown, a tomato, and a sausage.

A second meal in a box resembled what looked like potato curry.

"The breakfast was inedible and I'm not usually fussy with food. The potatoes were okay," they said.

Along with their disappointing meal, the passenger also shared photos of an overhead air-conditioning vent stuffed with napkins to prevent dripping on passengers and shots of dirty stained windows.

Fellow passengers were split over their thoughts on the quality of the meal.

Many were equally unsatisfied with their past experiences flying with Qantas.

"I was sitting in my dirty seat that I paid an arm and a leg for just a few nights ago. Eating my ‘dinner’ in a box," said one commenter.

"Then I opened the Qantas in-flight magazine to see $1980 shoes and $45,000 watches. Their priorities are dogs**t."

"Absolutely f**king appalling! The food looks like someone defecated into a box," said one outraged viewer.

Some said although the presentation was questionable, they would be fine with what they had been served.

"I’d eat the food. Doesn’t look fabulous but tastes alright. I don’t expect much from cattle class," said one commenter.

"It blows me away that they can still charge premium prices for a substandard service."

A Qantas spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that the incident was a one-off occurrence.

"There are no flight details in the social media post so we don't have specific information on what's occurred, but all of our aircraft are cleaned with a disinfectant between flights and at the end of the day and undergo deep cleaning on a regular basis," they said.

"The presentation of one of the meals is not what they normally look like but generally we've had great feedback on the new dishes and the larger portions we've recently introduced."
