A 250-year-old English castle resort with outdoor pool and playground is giving away free bottles of champagne all year
LUCKY guests visiting an English castle will be treated with a free bottle of champagne this year.
The luxury hotel that overlooks the sea is celebrating its 250th anniversary, after it was built in 1774, with a series of special events.
Tregenna Castle sits on a hill gazing out over the coast at St Ives in Cornwall.
It is a Grade II Listed building surrounded by 72 acres of gardens and natural woodland.
Since it was first built, it has been expanded several times and now contains hotel rooms, apartments and self-catering properties for holidaymakers to make use of.
Visitors also have access to a bar, two restaurants, a golf course, both an indoor and outdoor pool and playground.

Throughout 2024, the castle will be commemorating its special milestone with a series of celebrations and community activities.
This will include handing out free bottles of champagne to certain guests all year.
Sadly not everyone will be given a bottle however, with only the 250th person to check in each month receiving the prize.
Nevertheless, there will be boozy offerings for visitors to enjoy, with limited-edition cocktails being served in both the Godrevy View restaurant and Olives bar.

The resort will also be planting 250 trees, while staff members will be undertaking 250 acts of kindness in recognition of the anniversary.
The resort's operations director, James Parker, told the : "2024 is going to be huge for us at Tregenna.
"We are all excited about celebrating 250 years of this special building, but the anniversary means much more than that.
"We have been here for 250 years, and we want to keep going for another 250 at least."
During its first 250 years, the castle has hosted some huge celebrity names.
Sir David Attenborough, Dame Judi Dench, Anthony Joshua and David Bowie are among the famous Brits to have stayed there.
They were also visited by Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, and the ‘off duty’ President Joe Biden and his wife Dr Jill Biden during the 2021 G7 summit that was hosted at the castle.

Tregenna has thousands of five star reviews on TripAdvisor with hundreds of people praising the hotel.
One wrote: "The hotel is really beautiful, the staff are helpful, polite and professional. I stayed in a double room and it was warm and the bed was amazingly comfortable."
Another said: "Tregenna Castle in St Ives exceeded our expectations, providing a delightful family getaway.
"The expansive grounds offered a picturesque setting for leisurely strolls, and the swimming pool was a hit with the entire family."
A third added: "The entire experience was truly five-star. The breakfast exceeded expectations."
