AN EXPERT has revealed the three ways to ensure a good night's sleep whilst flying - and the biggest mistake to avoid.

Trying to sleep comfortably on any form of public transport is near-on impossible and often results in some form of strain on your body.

But planes, in particular, often leave passengers with limited leg room and space to move.

But thanks to an employee from pillow and mattress brand Levitex, travellers can now ensure they get a good night's sleep on any future flights.

In a 48 second clip uploaded to the company's TikTok account, the expert provides three crucial steps to take if you want to find some comfort whilst flying.

"Make sure you recline your chair," the expert begins. "Because you will distribute your body more evenly - there's less peak pressure coming down on your bottom."

The second thing the expert recommends is to make sure you support your neck - but not with weak or memory foam-type materials.

"You can just get your old jumper, stick it around your neck and use an old elastic band or a hair bobble [to tie it up]," the expert continues.

"When you do that, your head's just not going to drop and flop as much and you get that support."

The final thing flyers must do is to place something between their lower back and chair.

"Stick a lumbar roll or a cushion [in there] and then you're much better supported."

Perhaps the most useful tip the expert gives, however, is by warning passengers to "never" lean forwards and sleep with their heads on the table.

But plenty of people in the comments section disagree, stating that it's one of the only ways they can doze off.

One person said: "Why should you never lean forward? I always do that, it’s the only way I can sleep."

A second added: “'Never do this' - literally the only way I can sleep on a plane."

Many viewers also claim that not all plane seats recline, while others are too "scared" to recline their seat for fear of annoying the person behind them.

"People out here acting like seats actually recline and don't just lean back a couple of degrees," said one.

"I never recline I'd rather sit in pain than disturb someone else," commented another.

However, there were those who said that they insist on reclining no matter the situation.

"To all those thinking it’s rude to recline your seat, come back to me after you’ve flown Australia to London," snapped one person.

Another added: "Reclining is key. Everyone should do it."

Elsewhere, a woman has divided opinion online after sharing her own strange hack for sleeping on planes.

The passenger said that it helps her get comfortable enough to drift off during plane trips, even though she hates flying.
