The German airline launched the routes from the regional airport back in 2021, eventually becoming a daily service.

However, these will be stopped from February 3, 2024.

A spokesperson for Bristol Airport told : “We are deeply disappointed to hear of Lufthansa’s decision to temporarily suspend the service between Bristol and Frankfurt, since the route was performing well.

"We will continue to work with Lufthansa to return the service and restart this important city link once the aircraft issues have been resolved.”

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that the German airline would also scrap routes between Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Frankfurt.

The routes first started operated back in May 2022, with up to six routes a week, flying every day excluding Saturday.

But this is also to be scrapped, just one day before the Bristol route scrap.

The airline said the cancelled routes was due to "unscheduled maintenance on the fleet".

A Lufthansa said previously said: “Due to unscheduled maintenance work on Pratt & Whitney engines in the Lufthansa Airbus A320neo fleet, Lufthansa Airlines will have significantly fewer aircraft available next year than originally planned.

"The company has therefore decided to suspend some routes from February 2024 that have not shown a positive economic development in recent months.

“The routes to the UK affected are Munich to Orly, Frankfurt to Bristol and Frankfurt to Liverpool.
