The £14million water park hoping to reopen in the UK in 2024 after falling into administration
A HUGE water park is hoping to reopen next year - after it was forced to close in October.
Since it first opened its doors in 2016, Alpamare has remained popular among families and other holidaymakers.
But earlier this year, the £14million water park announced that it would temporarily be closing its site throughout the winter.
The closure was to allow for essential maintenance to be carried out, and to improve energy efficiency at the site.
Despite its closure, Alpamare planned to reopen in the spring, until its owner, Benchmark Leisure Ltd, fell into administration.
Questions were raised over the future of the £14million water park, including a £9million loan given to its developer.

According to the , Benchmark Leisure Ltd still owed £7.8million in public money in 2022.
But now, North Yorkshire Council has taken possession of Aplamare, with the council hoping to reopen the site in 2024.
Kerry Metcalfe, assistant director for commercial, property and procurement at the council said: "I can confirm we have taken possession of the former Alpamare waterpark in Scarborough.
"We are committed to ensuring that all the necessary assessments and work is undertaken in a thorough and professional manner and that we consider all options for the future operation of the site.

"Through this, it is hoped that measures will be in place to open the facility in time for the main 2024 summer season. We will keep the public updated as the necessary work progresses."
Set in Scarborough, the water park has four water slides, including the double-tube Olympic Run.
The site is also home to a wave pool and an outdoor infinity pool.
Alpamare isn't the only water attraction slated to reopen in the next few years.
One of those is Therme Manchester, a huge new £250million water attraction, which hopes to open in 2025.
The 28-acre site will have 25 swimming pools, including a wave pool, as well as 35 water slides.
There will also be an indoor beach, the first all-season beach in the country, as well as an entire wellness area.
This includes an adult-only section with swim-up bars, water lagoons, steam rooms, and saunas.
Restaurants and cafes will also be onsite, and there will be parking as well as access to public transport.
