New ‘world-class’ seaside attraction to open in the UK next year – and tickets are now on sale

It cost £13million to put together and is finally set to open its doors

TICKETS have gone on sale for a brand new £13million attraction at a popular UK seaside resort.

Showtown will be located on Blackpool’s waterfront, behind the Blackpool Tower, and will bring "a world class museum" to the town, according to the Blackpool Heritage and Museum Trust.

When open, Showtown will celebrate the seaside, circus, magic, show, dance and Blackpool’s world-famous illuminations through six interactive exhibitions.

Visitors will also have a chance to get up close and personal with the entertainers who helped put Blackpool on the map.

These will include the comedians, dancers, acrobats and characters who turned the resort into the home of show business in the UK.

has claimed that the museum will be both fun and educational for people of all ages.

They said: "You will be able to see hundreds of exhibits and get involved in lots of fun activities.

"There will also be a learning space for schools and groups. Plus a gallery space for changing exhibitions."

Tickets cost £15 for adults and £11.50 for children and are available now from the official Showtown website.

They're valid for a whole year, meaning visitors are welcome to return as many times as they like after purchasing.

Discounted tickets are also available for students, while seniors and carers can go free.

Additional free tickets are also on offer for Blackpool residents, as well as free trips for local schools surrounding the attraction.

The £13m attraction was initially granted planning permission in 2018, but the Covid pandemic and other construction issues caused setbacks.

was originally due to open as long ago as June 2021, but it has since been pushed back on more than one occasion.

However, it will finally open its doors to the public on March 15 next year.

Chief Executive, Liz Moss said: “We’re incredibly excited to announce that tickets are now on sale for Blackpool’s Showtown Museum as we draw one step closer to our official opening date in March.

“Showtown promises to be a fun experience for all the family and there is something for all ages to explore and enjoy, with lots of things which will surprise and delight people who don’t know much about Blackpool, as well as those who think they do.

“The team here have created an incredible, interactive celebration of Blackpool and the fun and entertainment that made it famous, and we cannot wait top open our doors and welcome the world to the magic of Showtown.”

The museum has advised those who want to be among the first to visit to book early, as availability is limited.

Tickets can be booked online ahead of the official launch at the website.
