One of the UK’s best loved rollercoasters is returning to theme park next year
FANS of one of the UK's best loved rollercoasters have started speculating over a potential reopening date, after the ride was closed last year.
Nemesis at Alton Towers is among the country's top theme park attractions and draws people from all over the world every year.
However, since the end of 2022, it's been closed for refurbishments, with the ride's designer John Wardley promising to create a better experience than before.
The refurb will include "new elements with more storytelling, more special effects and scenery" for fans to enjoy once the coaster is up and running again.
Alton Towers has confirmed that will be next year, with they released last month.
Simply titled "BACK WITH A VENGEANCE" the footage released via the park's YouTube account showed scientists being attacked by a mythical creature, including one holding a tablet that read: "Nemesis status: Active".

The vignette finished with the ride's famous eye, before a caption that reads: "Back with a vengeance 2024."
The video sparked excitement among the ride's fans with plenty saying they couldn't wait to ride "the beast" again once it returned.
One wrote: "Absolutely brilliant. The beast is alive!"
Another said: "Can't wait to ride this again! The Beast is back."
A third added: "That is the most epic way to bring back a fan favourite coaster."
The ride's track has been completely relaid, according to vlogger Theme Park Worldwide, who shared from the park.
He said: "Track is now complete on Nemesis. It's crazy to think we've been following this project now for 12 months - it was last November when the old track was removed from the site.
"Here we are, 12 months later and that work is now finally complete."
Extensive testing of the ride will need to be done before it can be reopened to the public.
But, with the park closed for the winter, theme park fans are hopeful there will be enough time to do that in time for the start of its 2024 season.
Currently, that looks to be March 16, 2024, with that date the first listed in next season's calendar, for which tickets are now on sale.
However, Alton Towers is yet to confirm that Nemesis will be up and running by that date and didn't respond to Sun Online Travel's request for confirmation.
Nevertheless, it appears thrill seekers won't have long to wait before they can try out the new updates on one of their favourite rides.
