Those Brits looking for their next railway voyage will be pleased to know, that two train journeys in the UK have been named the best in the world by Conde Nast Traveller.

In their , an army of well-travelled readers voted for their favourite train trips.

Included in the top 20 were train journeys in Australia, Japan, Canada, and Spain.

The Royal Scotsman in Scotland made the list thanks to its indulgent and intimate atmosphere.

Conde Nast wrote: "With only 40 guests onboard, the train circumnavigates the heart of the Scottish Highlands, passing such landmarks as the Kyle of Lochalsh and Cairngorms National Park."

While the team of travel experts praised the views from the train window, its amenities also earned some recognition.

The luxury train has specialist features like a dedicated spa carriage, an observation car, and plenty of fine dining options.

Meanwhile, The British Pullman was also included in the top 20.
