Major boost for ski holidays as bumper snowfall covers Alps sparking cheap deals to the slopes
SKI holidays have been given a major boost - as bumper snowfall sees a budget airline offer 10 per cent off trips to the slopes.
More than a metre of fresh snow has fallen in the Alps in the past week, with more on the way.
Now no-frills UK airline Jet2 has knocked 10 per cent off flights to resorts including Chambery and Grenoble in France, Geneva in Switzerland and Salzburg in Austria.
Popular destinations including Val Thorens, Davos, Zermatt and Verbier have opened weeks earlier to make the most of the autumn snow.
Ski Solutions boss Ian McIlrath told : "Storms have been piling into the Alps for the last two weeks,
"Snow accumulations of more than 100cm are quite widespread now on the upper slopes.

"This will ensure a solid base for the winter ahead, with a lot more snow in the forecast.
"It’s shaping up to be one of the best starts to the winter ski season that I can remember."
The good news for skiers comes after a flurry of problems at the big Alpine resorts over the past autumn.
October was fairly warm for the mountains, sparking fears of a winter washout.
But those fears have now been banished by the bumper snowfall across the Alps.
Local ski fanatic Heidi Gallay told AFP: "Everyone is waiting for this.
"I’m happy to be at Val Thorens to be able to enjoy the first snow."
Meanwhile, a man has revealed a little-known flight that takes you around the world in 21 days - with private chefs and all-inclusive food.
