The incredible English beach where seals give birth each November – and tourists flock to ‘pupwatch’ the adorable babies

THERE'S a place in the UK where seals appear every year, including adorable newly born pups.

Spotting wildlife is a great family activity if it goes well, but sometimes it can be difficulty to know where to look for animals.

However, there's a nature reserve in Lincolnshire that rarely leaves its visitors disappointed.

Donna Nook can be found between the village of North Somercotes and Grimsby. 

Between November and December, grey seals return to the seaside site to give birth to their fluffy white pups.

The looks after the site and even does a weekly 'pup-date' on its website explaining how many seals have been born and where they are spotted.

The most recent update revealed that 31 pups had been spotted earlier this month.

However, others report thousands of the animals being at the site at once.

The nature reserve has an overall score of 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor, with people enamoured by the cute creatures.

One recently wrote: "We go every year to see the pups when there being born, it's such an amazing thing to see, it's a great tradition year in year out."

Another said: "What an amazing experience. You really can’t miss this extravaganza.

"Over 4000 seals including 2200 pups all in one place and some no more than two feet away. Absolutely stunning."

A third added: "Have been so many times. Lovely to get close to seals and see their characters. Babies are gorgeous."

It's not the only place in the UK where seals can be spotted, with Horsey in Norfolk another favoured place of the animals.

They can be spotted on the shores around the town year-round, but they're most commonly seen there in the spring, when they come ashore for their annual “fur scratching”, the process of moulting winter coats.

They are also known to use the beach there for birthing as well.

Meanwhile, dolphins are popular around the UK's waters too, with places like Seahouses in the North East a popular spot to see them.

Dolphin and whale watching tours set off from the harbour in the town, but sometimes they aren't needed.

Some people have been fortunate enough to spot the animals swimming in the sea just off the coast from beer gardens.

During the summer months another adorable visitor that is quite easy to spot near to Seahouses - the puffin.

Every year, the birds arrive in May for breeding, which lasts until around July.

The black and white birds, with their colourful beaks, can be seen up and down the cliffs and crags off the shore, as they wait for their pufflings to hatch, before flying off.

Meanwhile, dolphins can also be seen from this seaside music festival.

And this seaside town is home to famous ponies and an award-winning theme park.
