SPLASH BACK

Brand new indoor waterpark planned for one of Europe’s biggest theme parks

The park also has ambitious plans to more than double in size

ONE of the largest theme parks in Europe has major plans for a new indoor waterpark that would allow it to remain open year-round.

Energylandia in Poland has more than 100 rides and attractions, but is unable to welcome guests throughout the winter months.

However, the park is hoping to change that with the construction of its own water complex, complete with hotels.

The park's director Justyna Dziedzic revealed the plans in an interview with the Wyborcza daily newspaper.

She said: "We first want to concentrate on the construction of an indoor waterpark, which will connect to the infrastructure of the existing outdoor area.

"The waterpark will also be connected to a hotel zone, which will make it possible to receive guests all year round."

Although the park is keen to start construction on the new waterpark soon, they currently have no opening date to aim for.

However, it's just one of many plans they have to more than double the size of the already sizeable park, according to Dziedzic expects.

She claims that the park has more than 200 hectares available to build on, with only 70 hectares of them currently in use.

Energylandia is also hoping to build a "spectacular tilt coaster" that will cost £3.74million.

The indoor waterpark would be the second water attraction at the theme park, with an outdoor one among the many reasons people visit every year.

Since opening its doors in 2014, the park has grown steadily, becoming the largest in Poland and one of the biggest in Europe.

It's home to more than 123 rides and attractions overall, which are spread out across six different zones.

Those zones include Fairytale Land, the Family Zone, the Extreme Zone, a Waterpark, the Dragon Zone, and Aqualantis.

The Fairytale Zone has rides and attractions that are primarily aimed at the park's youngest visitors, like carousels, slides, flying swings, and a jeep safari.

Elsewhere, the Family Zone lives up to its name with family-friendly activities like bumper cars, a monster house, and spinning teacups on the water.

Thrill-seekers can discover more exciting rides in the Extreme Zone where there are 12 rollercoasters including the Tsunami Drop.

It's not the only water attraction being planned in Europe, with Therme in Manchester set to open in 2025.

The 28-acre resort will have 25 swimming pools, including a wave pool, as well as 35 water slides.

There will be an indoor beach, the first all-season beach in the country, as well as an entire wellness area.

This includes an adult-only section with swim up bars, water lagoons, steam rooms and saunas.

Restaurants and cafes will also be onsite, and there will be parking as well as access to public transport.

Meanwhile, you can head to Romania to Therme Bucharest and experience their attraction now, although the Manchester attraction will be double the size.
