The UK seaside town with the country’s largest undercover outdoor ice rink – perfect for a festive day out
THE largest outdoor ice rink in the UK is found in a popular seaside town - and it is already open for the season.
Most people head to Weston-super-Mare for the summer holidays due to its huge sandy beach and popular pier.
However, it is a great festive destination too, thanks to Icescape Tropicana.
The largest undercover ice rink in the UK, it has opened to Brits from today and will run until January 7, 2024.
It is the first time it has opened since 2019, due to the pandemic and location issues.
Now open for the season, more than 400 skaters can use the rink at one time, although welcomed more than 120,000 people back in 2019.

Councillor Mike Solomon said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming Icescape back to the Tropicana.
"This will once again see Weston become the region’s festive ice-skating capital.”
Along with the huge ice rink, there are rides including the Christmas rollercoaster where you can ride on Santa's reindeer, as well as bungee trampolines.
There is also food and drink on offer - this includes hot food such as pizza or the famous Yorkshire Pudding wraps, as well as mulled wine, cider and hot chocolate.

Or you can head to the bar, which sells lager and local ciders.
Tickets start from £9.50 for kids or £11.50 for adults if you buy online, or you can save with a family ticket for four people, costing £36 online.
There are also quiet sessions which have fewer people and no music, as well as adult-only evenings with "disco tunes".
Visit on a Tuesday and you get a 2-4-1- skating session.
Skates are free and you can rent skate aids for kids when you arrive.
If you fancy something non-festive, there are lots of other covered activities in Weston-super-Mare.
This includes the indoor play centre Ocean Adventures as well as indoor climbing centre Clip 'n' Climb.
Or there is the Weston Museum which is home to the Banksy Dismaland Pinwheel, or the Helicopter Museum, the largest of its kind in the world.
You can also head to the iconic Grand Pier, which opened back in 1904 and is home to restaurants, cafes and takeaways as well as a Santa's Grotto this year.
