Trendy northern neighbourhood often compared to New York is named one of the ‘coolest in the world’
A NEIGHBOURHOOD in the UK has been named one of the 'coolest in the world' - thanks to amazing restaurants and trendy cafes.
The neighbourhood was named in Time Out's annual study, which spoke to 12,000 people around the world.
To make the list, everything from affordable food and drink, great nightlife and community to green spaces and social ventures are considered.
And this year's list placed the Baltic Triangle in Liverpool as the highest in the UK, coming in 11th place.
Not only has it been named by this year, but it was also named the trendiest place to live in Liverpool by locals and came fifth in the Telegraph's coolest places to like in the UK last year.
Once home to abandoned warehouses, it has since been transformed into a busy creative district of the city and named after the many destinations it once traded with.

It is found near the Albert Dock, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was used during the 18th and 19th centuries for trade.
And the Baltic Triangle's Grade II Listed warehouses have been converted into coffee shops, bars and restaurants, including the Michelin guide-rated Manifest.
Cains Brewery, founded in 1858, is home to a number of pop-ups including the Baltic Market, Chinese restaurant Lu Bains and Ryde Coffee shop for drinks and bike repairs.
Along with crazy golf, Bongo's Bingo and a retro arcade, also opening soon is Boxpark, which is already popular in London.

There are lots of independent shops too, selling everything from jewellery and artwork to interiors.
In the evening, Camp and Furnace, along with District open as late-night bars and nightclubs, or time your visit for the annual Baltic Weekender, taking place on May 31 and June 1 next year.
Tourists can also spot all of the street art across the district, including the popular Liverpool’s Liverbirds wings created by street artist Paul Curtis as well as the Jurgen Klopp mural.
And if you fancy staying the night, you can choose from the Hampton by Hilton or The Baltic Hotel, both within the Baltic Triangle.
The area's official website states: "The creative, digital and independent district of Liverpool.
"Located in what was once an abandoned area of the city, now houses a community of musicians, creatives and boss hospitality."
Also calling itself a "hidden gem" as well as "up-and-coming," the area has been compared to the trendy Meatpacking District in New York - with the famous red brick buildings looking very similar.
Grace Beard, Travel Editor at Time Out, says: “What stands out with this year’s Time Out Coolest Neighbourhoods is that, while most of them have seen transformation over recent years, they remain resolutely local-at-heart.
"Exciting new openings across culture, food and drink are bringing in new crowds, but neighbourhood stalwarts – from old pubs to family greengrocers – keep it real.
"And they’re fun! These are places where the city comes to play, be it an all-night party, a spot of urban fishing or a nighttime bike ride."
Taking the top spot this year was Laureles in Medellín, Colombia, while Leith in Edinburgh, West End in Glasgow and King's Cross in London made the top 40.
Elsewhere in Europe, Carabanchel in Madrid and Havnen - The Harbour in Copenhagen made the top 5, with mentions to Isola in Italy and West in Amsterdam.
