THERE'S an exotic island with beaches 'on par with the Caribbeans', but it is significantly cheaper and closer.

Dubbed the "African Caribbean", is Cape Verde, an island archipelago only five hours from the UK where the sun always shines.

Why Cape Verde?

Just off West Africa in the central Atlantic Ocean, ten islands are making up the Cape Verde island country.

The two islands that attract the most visitors are Sal and Boa Vista, thanks to their outstanding beaches and things to do.
