Flight attendant reveals the ‘versatile’ item she always packs in case of a holiday emergency – and it costs just 20p

A FLIGHT attendant has revealed the one item she always packs in her suitcase - and it costs just 20p.

In an article in , the cabin crew member shared her top travel tips, including the 'versatile' item she always packs in her suitcase.

While items like universal adapters and packing cubes come to mind, Valerie's top pick is something most Brits already have stashed away at home.

Valerie revealed that she always packs a plastic bag in her luggage.

She told Insider: "A plastic bag is the most versatile item you can travel with.

"Leaky cosmetics? Solved. A bathing suit that's still wet from a dip in the ocean? No problem. Filthy shoes from a hike? A plastic bag allows you to isolate them from your other items."

While most Brits are likely to have a bag for life floating around at home, they can be purchased for as little as 20p at supermarkets and high street chains across the country.

And Valerie isn't the only frequent flier who takes a plastic bag with them as they travel.

Earlier this year, TikTok user, and travel influencer, The Travel Mum revealed how she uses a bag for life to skirt around strict carry-on rules.

In a video on Tiktok, the mum-of-one explained how she packs most of her belongings into her underseat carry-on bag.

She then places items like her laptop and liquids into a WHSmith carrier bag.

The mum-of-one said: "So, when I'm boarding the plane it just looks like I've been shopping."

Her carrier bag trick fools staff at the boarding gate because it just looks like she's been Duty-Free shopping.

Duty-Free bags don't often count as hand luggage, because they allow passengers to buy things at the airport such as booze and cigarettes

Spanish TikToker Paula Brux, who goes by the name bruxpaula, has also used the bags to get around the Ryanair luggage rules.

She wrote: "POV: You pay 20 cents (£18p) for two Duty-Free bags at the airport, and you save €30 (£26) on Ryanair. We were nervous, but it worked 10/10."

The has been watched more than 2.7million times with thousands liking the clever trick.
