The massive 28-acre resort will be the size of 19 football pitches, with the majority of the attraction indoors.

While the project was given approval to go ahead in March 2020, this has since expired with the plans stalled during Covid.

However, the project is to go to the council again next week, and with new additions and improvements, expected to be approved again according to .

The report said: "The development will also add approximately £97m gross value to the local economy during construction and £38m annually once operational,” a report says.

“Other benefits include improved connectivity for cyclists and pedestrians, the creation of a new public realm, the regeneration of a vacant brownfield site in a sustainable location with a building of the highest design quality, biodiversity net gain and a substantial amount of new green infrastructure.”

Some of the changes since the first proposal include a change from a single glass dome to a number of separate, connected structures.

Inside will be four zones - Galaxy, for families, Palm, a spa area, Elysium, a wellbeing area, and Genesis, for "physical and mental health".

Across the zones will be 25 swimming pools, as well as a wave pool, and 35 waterslides.

It will also have the first all-seasons beach in the UK with sunloungers, palm trees and a "living waterslide" surrounded by plants.

There will be an adult-only section with swim up bars, steam rooms and saunas too.

There will also still be an outdoor area with pools and gardens.

Other highlights include a 10,000sqm 'wellbeing garden' along with restaurants and cafes.

Also being dubbed a "wellbeing resort," it is being built on the former EventCity conference centre next to the Trafford Centre.

It hoped to open in 2025 although this is likely to be delayed with work yet to start.

And official opening dates and ticket prices are yet to be revealed.
