Six of England’s best water parks – for families to cool off in the September heatwave

WITH temperatures expected to reach 32C later this week, we've rounded up the best water parks in England, as voted for by TripAdvisor users.

There are plenty of options to choose from, in everywhere from Blackpool to Dorset.

1. Sandcastle Waterpark, Blackpool

Sandcastle Waterpark in Blackpool is the largest indoor water park in the UK.

It has 18 slides, including the longest indoor rollercoaster water slide in the world, the Master Blaster.

Other water rides include the Sidewinder, which has an almost vertical drop, and the Montazooma, which takes parkgoers along hairpin turns.

Guests can even rent VIP Tiki Cabins for the entire day, and temperatures remain a tropical 84 degrees all year round.

Tickets range from £15 to £24 for the day, with under threes going free.

2. Alton Towers Waterpark, Staffordshire

The water park at Alton Towers is attached to the much-loved theme park, with entry often included in ticket deals.

Set inside the Splash Landing Hotel, the Caribbean lagoon has lazy rivers, a Masterblaster wet rollercoaster, log flumes, slides, and hot tubs.

Day passes are just £17.50 when they're booked in advance online.

3. Dorset Adventure Park, Dorset

Set next to the ruins of Corfe Castle, Dorset Adventure Park has 18 acres of woodland including two lakes.

On one of the lakes, there's an inflatable obstacle course complete with challenges and hurdles.

Tickets cost £20 per person, with optional extras like wetsuits and aqua shoes available to rent or purchase.

4. Waterworld, Staffordshire

Set in Staffordshire, Waterworld is an indoor water park with several rides, slides, rapids, and an assault course.

It has all the classic features like a lazy river, rapids, and a wave pool, as well as heart-racing rides dubbed Black Hole and the Python. 

The Space Bowl shoots you into a bowl through a flume and you spin around until you drop out into the plunge pool below.

Tickets start from £7.00 for children under 24 months, and cost £23 for a full-paying adult.

5. Aplamare, Scarborough

The Scarborough-based water park of Aplamare is home to several pools, including a 35-degree heated infinity pool with views overlooking the bay.

There are also four water rides too, as well as an outdoor bar complete with sunbeds and a cafe.

Adult entry tickets into the water park cost £19 per person, while children up to the age of 15 pay £15.

6. Aqua Parcs, Milton Keynes

The Aqua Parcs water park at Willen Lake in Milton Keynes is home to a 400m-long inflatable obstacle course.

The course is divided into three sections, each with its own challenges and hurdles.

Entry tickets to the water park cost £22 and include a wetsuit, buoyancy aid, a safety briefing, and a 50-minute session on the obstacle course.

Other water activities on Willen Lake include paddleboarding, boat hire, open-water swimming, and windsurfing.
