The up-and-coming holiday hotspot just a few hours from the UK – with first budget flights and huge new attraction
A LOW-COST airline is set to launch budget flights to an up-and-coming holiday destination, and it's only a few hours from the UK.
While most holidaymakers heading to Egypt visit resort towns on the Red Sea Coast, there's also another spot that will soon have budget flights and a brand-new attraction.
This autumn, easyJet will be launching flights from London Luton Airport to Cairo (the Egyptian capital).
According to , direct flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Flights will be departing at 11.55am from Luton, with a flight time of 4 hours and 40 minutes.
The new route aims to offer a budget alternative to the capital, with one-way tickets starting from £35 per person.

Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK country manager said: "We are delighted to be launching flights for the very first time to Cairo, which further strengthens our unrivalled short-haul network from the UK.
"The new route from London Luton to this iconic destination further expands the choice we are offering our customers, provides greater connectivity to the city to support inbound tourism and business travel alike."
The launch of easyJet's latest route could also coincide with the opening of Cairo's newest attraction, the Grand Egyptian Museum.
Slated to open in late 2023, the museum will be home to more than 100,000 artefacts - making it the largest archaeological museum complex in the world.

The museum will lie just 2km away from the Pyramids of Giza - the only remaining wonder of the ancient world.
Holidaymakers wishing to visit the pyramids can book themselves onto guided tours, with prices starting from £29 per person.
Other attractions include the Egyptian Museum, the Museum of Islamic Art, and the Al Azhar Mosque.
Egypt is two hours ahead of the UK, and its official language is Arabic - although English will be widely spoken at hotels and tourist sites.
The local currency is the Egyptian pound (EGP) with £10 around 367 EGP.
Your passport will need to have at least 6 months left on it when you arrive in Cairo, and you will need a visa too.
Egypt is home to plenty of winter sun spots too including the resort town of El Gouna.
El Gouna is a 30-minute drive away from Hurghada Airport, and it boasts a warm 24C in the winter.
