The largest theme park in Europe & you’ve probably never heard of it – with 123 rides & a 7D cinema

HOLIDAYMAKERS probably haven't heard about one of Europe's largest theme parks - even though it has 123 rides and attractions.

The summer has people planning days out, with theme parks a great choice for both families and thrill-seekers.

And one theme park most Brit holidaymakers probably haven't even heard of before is Energylandia in Zator in Southern Poland.

The Polish theme park is the biggest in the country, and it is thought to be one of the largest amusement parks in Europe too.

Energylandia first opened its doors in 2014 and is now home to more than 123 rides and attractions, which sit across six different zones.

These zones include Fairytale Land, the Family Zone, the Extreme Zone, a Waterpark, the Dragon Zone, and Aqualantis.

The Fairytale Zone has rides and attractions designed for the park's youngest visitors like carousels, slides, flying swings, and a jeep safari.

Meanwhile, in the Family Zone, there are plenty of family-friendly activities like bumper cars, a monster house, and spinning teacups on the water.

For those thrill-seekers who are after more adrenaline-inducing rides, then there's the Extreme Zone with more than 12 rollercoasters including Tsunami Drop.

There's also Mayan where passengers will be hung upside down five times and reach heights of 108ft (33m) and a top speed of 80 km/hr (49mph).

Other rollercoasters in the Extreme Zone include Hyperion, the Aztec Swing, and Space Booster.

Energylandia also has its own water park with more than 700 sunbeds, several swimming pools, and water slides including Bamboo Bay and Exotic Island.

Other zones include Aqualantis, where parkgoers will find water-based rides and rollercoasters, and the Dragon Zone - a medieval-inspired area.

The Dragon Zone is also home to one of the largest wooden rollercoasters in Europe - a ride called Zadra, which has a terrifying 200ft (60m) drop that will thrill any daredevil.

Passengers on the ride will reach heights of 209ft (63m) with top speeds up to 73mph (121kph).

There are also nine performance stages where guests will be able to watch shows like Magic Moments, Bon Voyage World Tour, and Crazy Adventure.

The theme park also has its very own 7D cinema, which is described as being like a 3D cinema with additional special effects.

And during the festive season, the Winter Kingdom is also open to guests.

From November 26, 2023, until January 8, 2024, parkgoers will be able to visit a Christmas market, take part in gingerbread-making classes and even meet the big man himself.

The park gets good ratings from the public with an overall score of 4.5/5 from more than 2,700 reviews on TripAdvisor.

One person wrote: "A really fun place, I loved the big roller coaster and would recommend coming here."

Another added: "One of the best parks in Europe."

And a third said: "Great staff and amazing rides! It's worth a trip to Krakow just for the theme park."

Tickets for adults cost PLN 199 (£38.61) while children up to 140cm (4ft 7in) pay PLN 149 (£28.91).

Energylandia is an hour's drive from Krakow.

Both Ryanair and Wizzair operate direct flights from UK airports like London, Birmingham, Leeds, and Newcastle.

And later this year, the theme park will be opening a new sweet-themed zone complete with two brand-new rollercoasters.

Sweet Valley will be geared towards the theme park's youngest visitors with family-friendly attractions like spinning teacups, a playground, and a small carousel rides.
