And, while the area is just a walk away from bustling Bridlington, many visitors say it's overlooked and stays quiet in the summer months.

Gary, Andy, Denise and Alison own a static caravan in Sewerby and visit as often as they can as there is "everything" they could possibly want on offer.

They told : "There's good pubs and good walks and we find it more peaceful than Bridlington.

"The beach is lovely and we can take the dog on half of it."

Sewerby has a model village which is a favourite amongst visitors, as well as a Georgian manor with 50 acres of grounds to walk around.

Teresa and Tony were visiting the seaside village and dubbed it lovely - before admitting they weren't fans of Bridlington.

They said: "The clifftop walk here is lovely - we're staying in the motor home site.

"You can walk all the way out to Flamborough and see all the birds.

"We really like this bit, but we weren't that impressed with Bridlington, though everyone was nice. It was just a bit run down."

Bridlington is just a short train journey away from Sewerby if you don't fancy the scenic walk.

It recently boasted 30 chippies on the beachfront which serve fresh fish and chips daily.

Bridlington, nestled between Scarborough and Hull, has been an unlikely hit with A-listers.

Chefs Gordon Ramsay and Nigella Lawson have sampled the town's legendary offerings - while Queen Consort CamillaBoris Johnson and food critic Jay Rayner have heaped praise.
