UK theme park reveals new Very Hungry Caterpillar attraction opening this year – with soft play and performance stage

A UK theme park has announced that a new Very Hungry Caterpillar attraction will be opening later this year.

The new Very Hungry Caterpillar Play Patch will feature a storytelling zone, soft play area and toddler-friendly activities.

The announcement was made by Gulliver’s Land Resort in Milton Keynes on Thursday, with artist’s impressions also made to show what the attraction will look like.

In a post on the , they said: “It’s the perfect time to announce a brand-new venue opening at Gulliver’s Dinosaur and Farm Park.

“The Very Hungry Caterpillar Play Patch is coming to Dinosaur and Farm Park, Milton Keynes.

“Based on Eric Carle’s best-selling book, this interactive and immersive space will feature a storytelling zone, soft play area and toddler-friendly activities.

“Look out for special updates and announcements over the next few weeks.

“Here’s a first look at what you can expect from The Very Hungry Caterpillar Play Patch.”

Pictures show how the play area, storytelling zone and activity spaces might look, with a cafe and a performance stage also depicted.

Excited park fans commented on the pictures, saying they were looking forward to it opening.

One wrote: “This looks like it’s going to be good. We will have to all go to MK when it’s done.”

Another said: “This looks well cute.”

The Very Hungry Caterpillar isn’t the only kids’ favourite to be getting its own ride at a UK theme park this year.

A new Thomas the Tank Engine ride will be open to the public from this weekend at Drayton Manor.

The new attraction, which marks 15 years of Thomas Land, has been announced as Thomas & Percy’s Submarine Splash.

On the flume, which features two miniature drops, park-goers will help Thomas and his friend Percy deliver the ride to its end destination.

Along the way, visitors can expect to see other characters from the world of Thomas & Friends too.

Victoria Lynn, Managing Director at Drayton Manor Resort said: “The arrival of Thomas & Percy’s Submarine Splash ride is an exciting milestone for Thomas Land as it celebrates its 15th Anniversary.

“We’re certain that Thomas fans across the Midlands and beyond will want to enter the immersive world of Thomas Land themselves.”

Meanwhile, Chessington World of Adventures Resort has revealed a first look at the highly-anticipated Jumanji land where park-goers can enjoy themed rides and food.

A new theme Park that has been dubbed the ‘UK Disneyland’ is set to open in 2025 after plans were scaled back last year.
