It was the highest-placed beach, making it the prettiest one in the UK.

The beach can be found in Gower in southwest Wales and is known for its sand dunes, limestone cliffs, and stunning shoreline.

Big Seven describe the bay as "a spectacular mashup of misty dunes, endless salt marshes, and giant limestone cliffs".

They added: "From the epic sunrises and sunsets to the expanse of sea and tranquil marshes that surround it, it’s easy to see why it’s one of the most photographed areas in Wales and one of the most beautiful spots in the UK."

Holidaymakers looking to spend a day at the beach should bring their own buckets and spades because there are no shops at Three Cliffs Bay.

The beach remains largely untouched by traditional seaside attractions.

Anyone opting to spend a day there will be able to take a dip in the sea, build sandcastles, and admire the views.

But some fans have warned of its difficult access for families, with one Instagram user saying:  "As pretty as it looks, it's not easily accessible, and there's limited parking.

"If you were bringing young children here for a day trip by the time you got to the beach with the bucket and spade and cool box etc. There would be tears."

Lifeguards can be found on duty on the beach from April 1 to September 3.

Other activities include a circular walking route to nearby Penmaen.

Visitors took to Tripadvisor to express their love of the beach

One wrote: "Stunning views, we had fun exploring all the sand dunes. It was a sunny breezy day, that me and my husband very much enjoyed."

A second added: "The views are stunning. The beach is clean, with soft, golden sand and there are rock pools for kids to explore."

While the beach can be accessed by car, visitors still need to walk around 400 metres from the car park at the Three Cliffs Holiday Park to get to the secluded spot.

Because of the short "scramble" down to the bay, some holidaymakers noted how "quiet" the beach is in their reviews.

One wrote: "This interesting bay does not have road access, so presumably remains quite quiet."

Someone else said: "It is not the easiest beach to get to, but this gives the advantage of it being fairly empty."

There are no toilets on the beach, but they can be found at the Three Cliffs Holiday Park.

Visitors can book to stay at the park where prices start at £29.50 per night for a pitch for a tent.

Holidaymakers looking to spend a day on the beach should bring their own refreshments because there aren't any cafes.

Anyone after some Welsh ice cream should head to Parkmill Village or Pennard Village, which are both around a 30-minute walk away.

In Parkmill, you'll also find the Gower Inn Pub which serves traditional dishes like fish and chips and a range of pies as well as other lighter bites.

As reported by , celebs Jeremy Paxman and Katherine Jenkins have named Three Cliffs Bay as their favourite beach.
