Worthing in West Sussex has been crowned as one of the best places to live thanks to its laidback - and less expensive - lifestyle.

It was described as "small, chic and let’s face it, less megabucks Sussex coastal choice" in latest guide.
The seaside sanctuary has significantly less crowds than other hotspots, while boasting all the usual benefits.
The streets are lined with rows of colourful properties and the odd palm tree, while the turquoise water twinkles in the sunlight.
The beach in Worthing was recognised as one of the best in the country for four years running.

But for those who prefer to explore the town, there are thriving high streets full of cute boutique stores to browse.
There is even one called Haggle It, where shoppers negotiate a price for their buys.
There is even a lido for those who don't fancy taking on the waves.
Cute cafes with stunning beach views are plentiful, while swanky restaurants are only a short walk away.

Seafood dishes are an obvious staple on most menus, but there is a huge range of cuisine to choose from in the coastal town.
But one of the star attractions in Worthing is the magnificent Art Deco Pier, just 10 miles west of Brighton.
It was named the best in Britain in 2019 and is regarded as a must-visit by locals, while being the perfect spot to watch the sunset.
The pier, built in 1862, survived an inferno and the Second World War before briefly becoming a nightclub in the 80s.
Residents also recommend stopping by Highdown Gardens, a unique "living library" of plants from across the globe.
The chalk garden is tucked behind a charming farm shop and garden centre.
The town is also the birthplace of Brit indie rock band The Ordinary Boys, fronted by former Big Brother star Preston.
And if you are truly besotted by Worthing after a brief trip, you will be pleased to know that pads are pretty cheap here too.
According to homes in Worthing had an overall average price of £371,468 over the last year.
The majority of these sales were flats, selling for an average price of £226,835.
Semi-detached properties sold for around £434,491, with terraced properties going for up to £364,321.
In comparison, in Dunsfold had an average price of £854,375 over the last year.
This is more than double the average cost in Worthing, while the average house price in Surrey also came in at £646,834.

Tourists flock to the seaside town for the "incredible views" as well as a history lesson.

But if you want more nightlife than wildlife, opt for the seaside town that's compared to Las Vegas because of its arcades, nightlife and sandy beaches.
