The best travel destinations for 2023 according to Rough Guide – you’ll be surprised by the UK city that makes the cut
A UK city has been named as one of the best places to visit in the world next year.
The travel experts at have included Leeds in their A-Z round-up of best destinations to explore in 2023.
Their definitive list includes holiday hotspots, old favourites, wildlife havens and bucket list destinations.
Included in the top 23 are Berlin, Naples, Sydney in Australia, and Toulouse in France.
The judges have given Leeds one of the top spots thanks to the city's food and drink scene, art galleries, and theatres.
Situated in the north of England, Leeds is home to Opera North, the only UK opera company outside London, Leeds Grand Theatre, and the Northern Ballet.

Live performances aside there's also Leeds Art Gallery, street art trails, and Hyde Park Picture House.
There's also Kirkgate market for food lovers, Kirkstall Abbey for history buffs and urban-axe throwing experiences.
Leeds has also been named as the UK City of Culture for 2023.
Two other UK destinations have also made Rough Guide's list with Pembrokeshire in Wales being hailed as an ideal spot for coastal walks and plenty of family.

According to the travel experts, those looking for a recharge and a spot of fresh air should head to the Scottish Highlands for a break away.

Time Out has also named Eastbourne, East Sussex, as the best place for a day out or overnight trip in 2023
And travel experts at have whittled down the 'must-visit' destinations for globe trotters to explore next year including Lima in Peru and Umbria in Italy.
