When is the best time to visit Mexico? Bag cheap beach holidays from £109pp a night

Mexico is an exceptional destination to visit all year round, but it mainly makes for an incredible winter escape.

The tropical treasure has magnificent sandy beaches, delicious food, culture and historical sites.

The dry season, which lasts from December to April and sees highs of 32C, is the best time to travel to Mexico.

There is almost zero chance of rain during these months, and most days will be sunny.

However, the coldest months are from late December to early February, so it's important to keep that in mind.

Despite this, the temperature still fluctuates between 24 and 28C.

Meanwhile, the wet season runs from the end of May until October, so it's best to avoid it if possible.  

There are also some events to remember if you want to experience the culture entirely.

For instance, Cinco De Mayo (on May 5) is a holiday celebrating the Mexican victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla.

You can expect street food, parties, parades and plenty of fun.

On the other hand, if you're after a surfing holiday, you should head to Los Cabos between November and April, as it's the busiest surfing season.

Cancun's surf season runs from June to November, so keep that in mind if you want to hit the waves.

Also, every spring, Cancun hosts the Inception Music Festival, the largest Spring Break event in the world.

The event lasts for a month in some of Cancun's top locations, with incredible parties and events throughout the day and night.
