Why you should go on a mid-haul holiday this winter – with short flights but hot weather
HOLIDAYMAKERS in search of winter sun will often end up flying long-haul.
But there are places closer by that are just as warm and can be cheaper to visit too.
There are a number of deals on mid-haul holidays that will provide travellers with plenty of sun this winter, without breaking the bank.
Mid-haul holidays are often between four and eight hours, so long enough that you can still find hot weather without spending too long on the plane.
Destinations include Morocco, where more Covid restrictions have recently been scrapped, as well as the Canary Islands which still have warm temperatures in winter but are around four hours by plane.
Lanzarote is often one of the most popular Spanish islands, as well as the warmest.

Temperatures in Marrakech are currently ranging from the high 20s to the mid 30s, while the Canaries are still in the low 20s.
Turkey is also a mid-haul destination - with flight times around four hours as well - but remains warmer than the UK even in December around 17C.
Another great mid-haul destination which is a bit further is Cape Verde with flights around eight hours from the UK.

One other location that travellers may not initially consider for a winter break is Senegal.
