First-ever Camp Bestival Shropshire attracts glowing feedback from parents and kids
THE first ‘northern’ Camp Bestival has received a big thumbs-up from parents – and, just-as-importantly, their kids.
The family-oriented festival – a new sister event to the award-winning Dorset-based fixture – was held last weekend at Weston Park, the former home of V Festival on the Shropshire/Staffs borders.
Around 18,000 revellers saw performances from the likes of DJ Fatboy Slim, the 'Human' singer Rag ‘n’ Bone Man and Becky Hill, breakout star from The Voice.
Also on the bill was Radio 2 DJ Sara Cox, who span 80s’ mega hits and even renewed her wedding vows.
Children’s entertainment on the main stage included Mr Tumble, Mister Maker, Horrible Histories and Brainiac Live.
There was plenty laid on for little ones away from the arena, including numerous circus activities and shows, science shows, wild-water swimming, tree climbing and classic fairground rides.

Accommodation options included standard camping, boutique tents, campervan sites and even backstage camping, with quick and easy access to the main stage.
“Josie and I are over the moon with the support we’ve received for our very first Camp Bestival Shropshire,” said co-founder Rob da Bank, who co-promotes the events with his wife.
“It’s been such a joy to watch families camping together and experiencing everything we’ve packed up in our magic trunk of delights in such a beautiful setting.”
The festival has received a raft of positive feedback on social media.
