Desperate Spain hotels are offering cheap summer deals as tourists ditch foreign hols
HOTELS in Spain are offering bargain deals this summer as tourist numbers start to dwindle.
According to local media, the Spanish Hotel Confederation has said bookings from Brits have "started to slow" already - despite being just weeks away from the peak summer season.
Experts have said it is a combination of inflation as well as the current travel chaos which has seen huge airport queues and cancelled flights.
S&P Global Economics Director Paul Smith : "With elevated price pressures likely to persist in the near-term at least, demand - and with that activity growth - is set to be adversely impacted in the months ahead."
Some hotel chains are now offering deals even during the high season to entice tourists during the busy period.
Sun Online has found some of the biggest deals, including a night at the 4* PortBlue Club Pollentia Resort & Spa down to £166 rather than £299.

Or a night at Petit Hotel Hostatgeria Sant Salvador is down to £91 from £122.
It's not the only problem the tourist industry in Spain is facing either.
Staff shortages mean hotels are struggling to fill as many as 200,000 jobs, with many hires having no experience in a bid to be ready for the peak season.
And Covid cases are spiralling too - Spain reported infections increasing by five times in the space of a week.
